Marc Moser
Biography
Born 1968 in Arbon, Switzerland. In adolescence, he auto-didactically created first sculptures. In 1986, after completing the college, Marc decided against an academic career and for a blacksmith’s apprentice, as steel offered him the desired expressive possibilities. 1989 was followed by years of studying and travelling, e.g. with the Swiss steel sculptor Etienne Krähenbühl. Since 1993, the sculptures of Marc Moser have been created in a studio in Arbon.
Artist Statement
“The origin of Marc Moser’s sculptures lies in his intuition. In the course of the years, however, the formal language changed but not the original material, the steel. The resulting sculptures are not limited by their aesthetics, but primarily by their statement and their content, thereby opening up a new perception to the viewer. Oversized or altered objects of use confront us with topics that we often suppress in everyday life.
The sculpture “sea pink” at Sculpture by the sea, Aarhus (Denmark), “bluetoo” at the OPENArt, Örebro (Sweden) and “avarice” at Sculpture Line, Prague (Czech Republic) attracted international attention.”
