Sculptors and Sculpture in Scotland

- Scottish Sculpture
Workshop The Scottish Sculpture Workshop is a unique place - we are the
international centre for sculpture in Scotland. We provide facilities for making
sculpture and self-catering accommodation on a site in the foothills of the
Highlands of Scotland. Over the past 16 years we have built up contacts
throughout the world with artists and organisations. We have created this Home
Page to extend this contact. Please get in touch, tell us about yourselves, and
lets see if we can do something together. ssw@sculptur.demon.co.uk
- Scottish
Sculpture Forum Scotland is unique in possessing four
organisations all committed to promotion of public awareness of
contemporary sculpture. These organisations are the Scottish Sculpture Workshop, the Glasgow Sculpture Studios,
the Edinburgh Sculpture
Workshop and the Scottish
Sculpture Trust.
- Sculpture Scotland A directory of Scottish sculptors producing figurative bronze sculpture of a
high quality. A non profit making site to help promote figurative Scottish
sculpture. Sculpture Scotland lists sculptors working mainly in bronze
producing figures that are either unique or one of a small edition. Most produce
small figures but some also large. Most have a portfolio of work for sale and
also take commissions. There is a wealth of available Scottish sculpture from
these artists.
- Scottish Borders
Sculptors Collective - a group of sculptors and like minded
people. The aims of the Collective include: Raising the profile of
sculpture in the Scottish Borders area; Breaking down the barriers between
the public and sculpture; Expanding the range of venues available to
sculptors; Establishing a programme of education, outreach and audience
development. See: Membership. FORGED! an

- Glasgow -
City of Sculpture - by Gary Nisbet - "We hope you will find
our web-site both enjoyable and rewarding. It represents the culmination of over
fifteen years of original research into the specialised subject of the history
of sculpture in Glasgow. We cover over four centuries of sculptural work, with a
wealth of material from the 'golden years' of the Victorian era." See: Sculptors, Architects, Acronyms, Glossary, Bibliography, Useful Links.

- Gary Nisbet's site is one of the best sculptors' biography
sites I have seen on the web. I wish other cities had the foresight to do
the same. Gary's research and Tim Gardner's web skills are producing an
outstanding resource! - Jan 2002

- The Scottish Arts
Council is one of the main channels for Government funding for the arts
in Scotland receiving its funding from the Scottish Executive. We also
distribute National Lottery funds received from the Department for Culture,
Media and Sport. As an 'arm's length' body we are independent from but
accountable to the Scottish Executive. We fund around 80 arts organisations for
annual programmes of work. In addition, we make project and lottery grants to
individual artists and arts organisations. See: Guide to SAC Funds, Information Services, Crafts and Visual Arts

- Public
Art in Dundee The main public art programme in Dundee originally started
in 1982 as the Blackness Public Arts Programme. It was founded to work with the
`Action Blackness' project which was established by the local authorities to
regenerate the rundown industrial area of Blackness within Dundee.
