Getty Conservation Institute The Getty Conservation Institute is committed to the preservation of cultural heritage worldwide. Combining research, training, field work, and information exchange, the Institute promotes conservation of cultural property as it seeks to increase public awareness of conservation's importance.

- Save Outdoor Sculpture (SOS) is a private/public initiative to document all monuments and outdoor sculpture in the United States and to help communities and local groups of all ages and interests preserve their sculptural legacy for the next century. Save Outdoor Sculpture! is a catalyst to save our sculptural heritage. In Phase I, 7,000 volunteers reported 30,000 publicly accessible outdoor sculptures to the Smithsonian Institution’s Art Inventories database. National Center for Preservation Technology and Training The National Center for Preservation Technology and Training promotes and enhances the preservation of historic resources in the United States for present and future generations through the advancement and dissemination of preservation technology and training. The Center, created by Congress, is an interdisciplinary effort by the National Park Service to advance the art and science of historic preservation in the fields of archeology, historic architecture, historic landscapes, objects and materials conservation, and interpretation. Conservation OnLine (CoOL) "Resources for Conservation Professionals. CoOL, a project of the Preservation Department of Stanford University Libraries, is a full text library of conservation information, covering a wide spectrum of topics of interest to those involved with the conservation of library, archives and museum materials. The content of CoOL comes from a variety of sources and we hope that all users will consider contributing some material to the project.

American Institute for Conservation "The American Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works (AIC) is the national membership organization of conservation professionals dedicated to preserving the art and historic artifacts of our cultural heritage for future generations. US National Committee of ICOMOS The U.S. National Committee of the International Council on Monuments and Sites (US/ICOMOS) fosters heritage conservation and historic preservation at the national and international levels through education and training, international exchange of people and information, technical assistance, documentation, advocacy and other activities consistent with the goals of ICOMOS and through collaboration with other organizations. International Council on Monuments and Sites ICOMOS is an international organization of professionals dedicated to the conservation of the world's historic monuments and sites. Through National and International Scientific committees, symposia, and other meetings, ICOMOS provides a forum for professional dialogue and a vehicle for the collection, evaluation, and dissemination of information on conservation principles, techniques, and policies.

Winged Victory Statues Missing DES MOINES - Local resident Jennifer Goodenow announced today that an 8-foot statue is missing. The statue was a gift from France, as one of 49 statues given to each of the states in 1949, in gratitude for our participation in World War II. Goodenow began the search after reading an article that the only statue on display in its state capitol is in Idaho. "I just wondered where our Iowa Statue is, I couldn't remember seeing it anywhere in Des Moines."
The Far-Flung Totem Project Because there was such a widespread harvesting of totem poles from the Northwest Pacific Coast and Alaska between about 1880 and 1930, even today, there are poor records on exactly where they came to rest. If you know about Alaskan or Northwest Pacific Coast totem poles in a museum or commissioned by a company and at a location near you, but far away from Alaska and British Columbia, please let us know. We want to find out where they are.
