- Feb 11, 1999: " Sir, I am an engineer having knowledge of Computer Graphics. I want to start a stone carving factory in India. I came to know through some friends that there are technologies capable of generating 3d computer graphics directly from computer to carving machine. So I think it is very helpful for those who do not have carving knowledge. Where can I get such type of machinery? Thanks in advance - Shams Mundol, mundol@hotmail.com
- Shams, there are several approaches. You can produce the statues in wax or clay and use a 3D scanner, or you can create the works directly on the computer with 3D software. Once you have a model in the computer, it can be produced in plastic with stereolithography. Since you want to go to stone, then you can use a computer numeric control (CNC) output device. - Richard
- Please take a look at 3D for some commercial efforts in this direction, and for many links to scanning and replication technologies. If you are inventive, you might want to emulate Helaman Ferguson and build your own automated tools. - Richard.
