- Cindy Debold Sculptures - For the past 10 years I've concentrated primarily on creating
sculptures that express emotion. Capturing feelings as well as studying the
structure of the human body is very challenging. I also truly enjoy doing
abstract sculptures because there is so much creativity involved, in the shape,
the composition, along with the challenge of getting an abstract piece to carry
an emotion. Eventually I plan to make abstract sculptures versions of all my
realistic pieces. Whether I am working with stone, clay or plaster, I first
decide on a feeling I want to express and then let my intuition lead me from
there. See: Artist's

- Ken Patecky Fine Art Sculpture Ken Patecky's background in art is
extensive. He studied art and architecture at the University of Oregon and
later at Portland State University. He began experimenting with concrete
sculpture in the 1970's and has developed his own techniques for producing
high-quality sculpture which often depicts the human form. See: Sculpture, Techniques, Galleries, Commissioned Sculpture Contact: patecky@worldaccessnet.com or (360) 695-6598 in Vancouver Washington USA.
- John P. Kennedy,
Sculptor - John Kennedy creates life size animals in concrete. These
concrete sculptures are not just life-size, but life-like in stance and
coloration. The striking realism of his work reflects the many hours John
devotes to research and preparation, while their durability is a testimonial to
decades of experience working with concrete. See: Creatures, More Creatures, The Process, Jaguar Limited Edition, New for 2000 Contact: jkenned100@yahoo.com or (315) 662-7242 8844 No. 5 Road East, Delphi Falls, NY 13051.
- Yates Lansing's Figurative wood
sculpture - - Yates' work can be described as figurative, or abstract
figurative. It can be described as minimalist or sensualist. One can site the
influences of Brancusi or Modigliani in these aspects. If you ask him, he will
also mention Michelangelo, Moore, and Rodin, as having worked on him in various
ways. His sculptures are bold, unapologetically alive. In them there is a
quality of sensuality, provocativeness, playfulness- joy, if you will- that is
all his own. See: About

- Bo
Atkinson Human imperfection and a need for balance seem to me
important to remember as a contrast to the boastfulness of commercialism. At this point in life I am looking for projects which are especially
creative. I have seven years of intensive experience with CAD (computer aided
design), with a previous mastery in many areas of building, environmental
issues, materials science and electronic physics. I balance technology with
creative philosophy and sculptural gardening. See: Outdoor Sculpture, Sand Molding Methods, Portfolio Contact: bo@midcoast.com or (207) 342-5796

- David French Making use of the casting process, I have attempted to articulate the
simultaneous effect of both growth and decay within the city. I use my intuition
during the mold-making process and the material concrete, itself, has become
both subject and object of my art. I have a bias toward making work that is
placed out doors and am particularly versed in the concept of Site Specific
Sculpture. See: 1998a, 1998b, The Will to Grow, The Key to the City, Consolidate Contact: davefrench@earthlink.net

Sculpture My husband and I began carving concrete in September of 1998
following a trip to Bali where we saw such wonderful sculptures that we had to
give it a try. We also were inspired by a friend of ours, Dave Martin. He has
been carving concrete in New Zealand for the past several years and has done
some wonderful work. It was Dave that taught us the basics of how to do
it. See: Sculptures Contact: dreamers@zenzibar.com

include "The Center" in Lithuania, a sculpture park commissioned by that
government which represents the geographical center of Europe. In 1997, Lickteig
completed the "volcano" artwork at the vortex pool at the Roeland Park Aquatic
Center. His other local public works can be seen at a park at 75th and Lydia,
the Cedar Creek Racquetball Club, and at the Shadow Glen Golf Club.

- Ellen Gibbs Individually carved concrete sculptures are made of gray and/or white Portland
cement (about $5 to $9 for a 90-lb bag at Home Depot) mixed with: one or more
aggregates, including granite sand, regular sand, perlite, marble dust, rubble
from previously carved sculptures, and sandy loam: colorants, usually oxides,
which I get at Armadillo Clay in Austin; and water. They are cast in blocks and
then carved after the concrete sets up but before it becomes too hard to
carve. See: Concrete

- Britestyle Products manufactures of fixings and anchors for autoclaved aerated concrete and
plasterboard - What is autoclaved
aerated concrete? The ingredients of AAC are mixed to form a slurry
that is poured into large metal molds. The reaction between the expansion agent
and other components used in AAC causes the slurry to expand (rise) in the mold
and form a "cake." After several hours, the mold is stripped away and the "cake"
is wire-cut into aerated concrete elements of high dimensional accuracy. These
elements are then put into an autoclave (a vessel in which they are steam cured
under pressure.) After autoclaving, AAC can be shipped and used immediately.

- Coalition for Quality Concrete
Flatwork - "Flatwork" is jargon for concrete construction that is,
well, flat: sidewalks, driveways, patios, and floors. But the
term refers to more than just concrete slabs on the ground. Floors in high-rise
buildings, for example, are considered flatwork. The quality of concrete
flatwork depends on the quality of the workers who finish it. And that's
why the Coalition for Quality
Concrete Flatwork exists: to recruit and train concrete finishers. The
Coalition was founded to develop education programs that will ultimately result
in better finishers and better concrete flatwork. See: Project Gallery, Concrete Careers Contact:

- Concrete- A User's Guide - Under the hands of Buddy Rhodes and his artisans, concrete comes to life. As in the Italian terrazzo tradition, the surface is ground with water to expose the natural aggregate. Comprised entirely of cement, sand and binders, pieces are further reinforced with diamond mesh steel. Once removed from the mold, the slab is worked over, producing intriguing variegations in color and texture. All kitchen and bath counter surfaces are hand polished, then protected with a sealer that renders them smooth and resistant to most stains and spills.
