Relic - By J. Mac
Each layer of J. Mac’s “Relic” contrasts against the next as it draws you in but also perhaps pushes you away. The smooth blue-black inner core is enclosed by a prickly layer of spikes which is in turn enveloped by an undulating layer of rope. |

Shell Bowl 5 - By Ben Carpenter
This piece is the fifth in my shell series. The wood presented a unique challenge for carving and sanding because it is full of bark. The result was worth the effort because these bark inclusions give the sculpture an ancient look as if many creatures have lived in it. Indeed, it was home to a band of rogue termites until shortly before its completion. The bark areas have been stabilized and now add to the overall appearance by contrasting with the already amazing cherry burl. I am fortunate to have been given this piece of wood and I'm sure to never see one like it again.
