Ocean

OceanBy Gordon Huether

Huether’s “Ocean” utilizes glass and light to create the feeling of flowing water in a stationary sculpture. Using a series of transfer processes to impose images of water onto the glass, Huether then heavily carved the surfaces to create a sense of water moving over a shore. Interestingly combining elements of nature, water, and the intangible with a structure that manages to be both painterly and sculptural, “Ocean” seems to halt the tides and transport them straight into the viewer’s backyard.
